The Saco Little League 9-and-10 year old All-Stars captured the Maine State Championship on Thursday with an 8-3 win over Westbrook in Ellsworth. Saco jumped out to an early 7-0 and never looked back as they remained undefeated in postseason play. Will Palmer picked up the win on the mound and was named the Most Valuable player. Saco had a strong defensive game led by Will Davies, Matthew Page, Brady Graffam and Pavel Tarpy. At the plate, the local All-Stars were led by Palmer, Davies, Graffam, AJ Thibodeau and Braden Camire. Saco will now move onto the regional tournament in Cranston, Rhode Island which starts on Aug. 7. Members of the championship team are: Evan Beaudette, Colin Binette, Kevin Butts, Braden Camire, Mason Collins, Owen Critchley, Will Davies, Brady Graffam, Matthew Page, Will Palmer, Pavel Tarpy, AJ Thibodeau and Jonathan Umel. The team is coached by David Page, Jeff Camire and Seth Umel.
