Thumbs up to Denny Mohn, who hit a hole in one at Biddeford-Saco Country Club on Aug. 5. Mohn aced the par-3 15th hole using a nine iron to make the 135- yard shot. The feat was witnessed by Randy Smith, Frank Defrancesco and Chris Pennington.
Thumbs up to Maine Healthy Beaches and its volunteers, John Bird and the other members of the Old Orchard Beach Conservation Commission, and the town of Old Orchard Beach for efforts to monitor pollution in Goosefare Brook.
Thumbs up to Martin’s Point Health Care for opening its new practice on Barra Road in Biddeford. Keeping health care facilities like this one in Biddeford is essential to the expansion of the city. We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
