DAMARISCOTTA (AP) — Entrants in an annual pumpkin regatta have carved their gourds. Now it’s time to see if they’ll float.

The Pumpkinfest Regatta on Monday is the highlight of Damariscotta’s annual celebration and features people piloting giant pumpkins that have been transformed into watercraft.

There are separate “paddleboat” and “powerboat” categories.

If that doesn’t float your boat, there are plenty of other activities over the three-day event.

Those include a giant pumpkin drop from 180 feet (54 meters) up and a giant pumpkin sling shot, along with a pumpkin parade, pumpkin derby and pumpkin carving.
