
WELLS – A traffic stop on the Maine Turnpike in Wells on Monday resulted in the arrest of a Dorchester, Massachusetts, suspect on drug charges.
Damion Dunkley, 28, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs after a search of his vehicle turned up an estimated 145 grams of crack cocaine, according to a Maine State Police social media posting.
A Troop G officer stopped Dunkley’s vehicle about 5:30 p.m. Police said criminal indicators were observed during the roadside investigation and police K9 Pinny was called to the scene to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. Pinny indicated there were narcotics present, and a search was conducted.
Dunkley is being held at York County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. A corrections officer said he is to make a first court appearance at Springvale District Court b y video link to the jail on Wednesday.
