LIMERICK—An annual tradition full of faith, friends, and fun will be renewed for a 36th year from starting Friday and wrapping up Sunday in Limerick.

The “Funshine Fair” will be held on the grounds of St. Matthew Church, located at 19 Dora Lane in Limerick, with family-friendly activities and events planned for the entire weekend. All are welcome to attend. The fair is a labor of love for the parishioners and community members who pitch in to offer an unforgettable experience to people of all ages.

The fun will kick off with an outdoor screening of 2019’s Dumbo, a live-action reimagining of the 1941 film of the same name. The movie will be shown on Friday, July 26, at 8 p.m.

On both Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28, visitors will be able to enjoy carnival games, live music, a penny auction, booths, and children’s activities like face painting, and special events also fill the schedule on both days.

On Saturday, visitors can tour booths on the grounds selling a variety of items, including clothes, toys, books, jewelry, Christmas and craft baskets, baked goods, and more from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Entertainment and live music will be offered on the fair stage on Saturday, featuring acts like Preston & Curry at 9:30 a.m.; an “Animal Encounters” presentation by the Wildlife Encounters Ecology Center & Farm School in Barrington, New Hampshire, at 10:30 a.m.; the Saco River Jazz Ensemble at noon; Anne Chase at 3 p.m.; and BruLou Tunes at 4 p.m. In addition, the food concession area will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a chicken barbecue planned from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The events on Saturday will be capped off with community bingo at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, a community homestyle breakfast will be offered from 8 to 10 a.m. The clothing and flea market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.

The fair will close on Sunday at noon with a penny auction as well as raffle drawings for several items and 44 cash prizes ranging from $50 to $1500. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the parish office or after Masses at the church. Weekend Masses at St. Matthew will still be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

All proceeds from the “Funshine Fair” will benefit the parish.
