Marine Corps Pvt. Joseph E. Emerson, son of Mary Leach Emerson and Ernest Emerson, both of South Berwick, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

A panel discussion designed to help women veterans with issues, benefits and opportunities will take place on Dec. 16. There will be two sessions: from noon to 1 p.m. and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Panelists are women veteran’s specialists from several agencies and include Terry Moore, Patricia Iles, LaRhonda Harris, Amy Marcotte. Melissa Tremblay, clinical director at Tri-County Mental Health Services.
