OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Councilors were sworn in and the Town Council chairman and vice-chairman were re-appointed.
Newly reelected Town Councilors Joseph Thornton and Jay Kelley were sworn into another term of office on the five-member council Monday night.
With all council members sworn in, the Town Council voted to appoint a chairman and vice-chairman, which are annual appointments made every November.
Thornton who was previously serving as chairman, was voted into the position again, and Shawn O’Neill, who had previously served as vice-chairman, was again voted into the position.
The Town Council chairman presides at all meetings and is a voting member of the board, according to town ordinance. The vice-chairman acts as the chairman during the chairman’s absence, according to town ordinance.
The Town Council voted to continue to hold Town Council meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of the month at Town Hall.
