Sarah Webb broke a scoreless tie with 7:00 remaining on a direct kick to lift the Wells High School girls’ soccer team to a 1-0 win over Lake Region in Wells Thursday night.

Golf: Massabesic, Thornton Academy earn wins

The Massabesic High golf team defeated Sanford in a SMAA golf match at Dutch Elm Country Club in Arundel.

Kyle Single and Noah Cretien each shot a 48 through nine holes to lead the Mustangs 255.

Zach Tremblay had a low medal score of 43 for Sanford 274.

Behind Armand Ouellette’s low medal score of 37, the Thornton Academy golf team beat Westbrook at Biddeford-Saco Country Club in Saco.

The Trojans won five of the six individual matches for a team medal of 213 over the nine-hole, par-35 course.

Alex Bean and Lucas Knapton each shot a 48 to lead Westbrook, which finished with 280.
