WARREN — A man serving a three-year sentence has died in a Maine prison.
The Maine Department of Corrections says 64-year-old David Sirois died on Tuesday afternoon at Maine State Prison in Warren. The department says Sirois’ death was attended by prison staff.
The department did not release any details about the nature of Sirois’ death. It said the Maine State Police and the state medical examiner’s office were notified, which is standard procedure when an inmate dies in prison.
Sirois, who was from Aroostook County, was sentenced for unlawful sexual contact in August 2018. He was scheduled for release in June 2021.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
