Wells Players will present four shows of ‘Cinderella’
The Wells Players of Wells High School will present four performances of the production “Cinderella” this week in the Olenn Auditorium.
This Rogers and Hammerstein musical is directed by George Perkins with musical direction provided by Larry Downing.
Showings will begin with a matinee at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, with evening shows at 7 Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Tickets for these shows are $5 for students and seniors and $8 for others.

Library planning events for National Poetry Month
The Scarborough Public Library will celebrate National Poetry Month with a series of events for middle and high school students.
Sweet Tweets and Book Spine Poetry workshops will be offered from 3 to 4 p.m. April 2 and 9.
Sweet Tweets is a poetry form using 140 characters or less.
Book Spine Poetry is poetry created by using the titles found on the spines of books.
Both workshops will be led by Connie Burns, a member of the Library’s Youth Services staff.
A “Poetry Share” will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 16, inviting students to perform original poetry in front of a live audience.
Friends and family are encouraged to attend this open mic event.
Registration is recommended for the poetry workshops by calling Youth Services at 883-4723.
Walk-ins are welcome.

Historical society hosting guest speaker Wednesday
Scarborough Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the museum and meeting room at 647 Route 1 (adjacent to the Dunstan Fire Station).
Glenn Grant will present a discussion of the Danish Village and Scarborough’s earlier town meeting format.
Attendees are welcome to share personal memories of both.
All monthly meetings are free to members of the public.However, donations are welcome.
The presentation is about one hour in length.

The Limington Extension’s “Cheep – Cheep” Easter sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Limington Town Hall on Route 11.
The sale will feature a variety of Easter basket embellishments, such as plastic eggs at five bags for $1, as well as baskets, plush, novelties, gifts and household items.

The Maine traditional Irish band Sligo Road will perform an evening of sing-alongs, ballads and more at 7 Saturday at Congregation Bet Ha’am, 81 Westbrook St.

Expert will discuss history of photo analysis Saturday
The Maine Historical Society and the Maine Genealogical Society will team up for a spring workshop from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Augusta Elks Club, 397 Civic Center Drive.
The keynote speaker, Maureen Taylor, the “Photo Detective,” will present a talk on the history of photo analysis.
Sessions include “Identifying and Dating Family Photographs,” “Preserving Family Photographs – 1839 to Present,” “Hair-steria: Celebrities and Their Historical Look-Alikes” and “The Last Muster: Photographs and Stories From the American Revolution.”
The dating and preserving sessions include a special focus on Civil War photography.
Cost is $40 for members and $50 for others.

Easter Seals Maine to host wine tasting, silent auction
Easter Seals Maine will host the “Toast on the Coast” wine tasting and silent auction to from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Ocean Gateway.
Guests will have an opportunity to participate in wine tasting, bid on silent auction items and sample food from some of the top restaurants in the area.
All proceeds will benefit Easter Seals Maine’s programs and services, including therapies for children from birth to age 3, case management, the NorthStar Learning Center and Military & Veterans Services.

Orthopedic surgeon James Timoney, D.O., of Central Maine Orthopaedics and the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine, will head the talk, “Your Guide to Foot and Ankle Pain” from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Chairmen’s Rooms on the lower level of the 12 High St. medical office building.
Timoney specializes in sports medicine, with a special emphasis on foot and ankle surgery. He has experience diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of orthopedic issues, ranging from sports and occupational injuries to developmental and degenerative problems.

Arts commission’s leader to speak on planning, grants
Five Rivers Arts Alliance will host a conversation with Julie Richard, executive director of the Maine Arts Commission, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Frontier.
Richard will speak about the strategic cultural planning effort currently underway at the Maine Arts Commission as well as the revamped grants program that the commission is offering. She is looking for ideas and feedback from local artists to be included in the commission’s strategic plan. She will also address the role of local arts councils and the Maine Arts Commission in serving the cultural needs of communities throughout the state.

Community Chorus will give concerts for spring, Easter
The Community Chorus at South Berwick, directed by Harry Moon, will perform “Welcome Spring! Tenebrae to Lux Aeterna,” a concert of sacred and secular music for spring and the Easter season, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Fox Run Road in Newington, N.H., and again at 3 p.m. April 6 at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 160 Agamenticus Road in South Berwick.
Pianist Gail Adams and a string ensemble will accompany the 60-voice chorus in sacred works by Bach, Haydn, Kuhnau, Schubert and Vivaldi, as well as settings of spring-themed poetry by 19th- to 21st-century composers.
Tickets are $10 in advance and for seniors and students or $12 at the door.
