COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Tianna Hawkins scored 19 points, including the tie-breaking basket with 14 seconds left, and No. 8 Maryland defeated fifth-ranked Duke 63-61 Sunday to end the Blue Devils’ bid to go unbeaten in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Laurin Mincy had 17 points for the Terrapins (23-5, 10-4). Allysa Thomas grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked a last-second shot by Haley Peters to secure the victory.
The game drew a crowd of 15,150, eighth-largest in school history. It was also the eighth-largest crowd to watch an ACC regular-season game.
Elizabeth Williams scored 19 points and Chelsea Gray had 16 for Duke (22-4, 13-1).
After a three-point play by Hawkins gave Maryland a 61-59 lead with 43.6 seconds left, Gray tied it with a driving layup. Hawkins then followed a miss by Thomas with a putback, setting the stage for Duke’s final possession.
The Blue Devils worked the ball to Peters in the left corner, but Thomas ran over and swatted the potential 3-point shot out of bounds as time expired.
(6) MIAMI 67, FLORIDA STATE 60: Riquna Williams scored 24 points as the Hurricanes (24-3, 13-1) moved into a tie atop the ACC standings with Duke by beating the Seminoles (13-15, 5-9) at Coral Gables, Fla.
Shenise Johnson added 23 points for the Hurricanes, who took advantage of 24 turnovers by Florida State. They scored 21 points off turnovers to four for the Seminoles.
(10) DELAWARE 40, DREXEL 39: Elena Delle Donne’s leaner from the wing with 2 seconds left as the Blue Hens (24-1, 15-0) beat the Dragons (13-12, 9-6) at Philadelphia to clinch the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season title.
(13) TENNESSEE 66, MISSISSIPPI 56: Glory Johnson had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lady Vols (20-7, 11-3 SEC) to a win over the Lady Rebels (12-15, 2-12) at Oxford, Miss.
MICHIGAN STATE 67, (17) PURDUE 52: Becca Mills scored 17 points and the Spartans (17-10, 9-5 Big Ten) outscored the Boilermakers (19-8, 9-5) 18-3 in overtime to win at East Lansing, Mich.
Lykendra Johnson had 15 points for the Spartans, who scored the first 11 points in OT.
(20) GEORGIA TECH 85, BOSTON COLLEGE 48: Tyaunna Marshall scored all 13 of her points in the first half as the Yellow Jackets (20-7, 10-4 ACC) pulled away early to beat the Eagles (7-20, 2-12) at Duluth, Ga.
Metra Walthour got all 10 of her points in the first half for the Yellow Jackets, who posted their highest-ever ACC victory total and sixth consecutive 20-win season.
Katie Zenevitch scored 11 points and Shayra Brown 10 for Boston College, which had won two in a row.
VERMONT 71, MAINE 54: The University of Vermont (10-18, 4-11 America East) used a 20-4 run to finish off a win over the University of Maine (6-21, 3-11) at Burlington, Vt.
Neither team was able to get much separation in the first half. Maine led 33-30 at halftime, and held its largest lead, 35-30, when Rebecca Knight opened the second half scoring off a Samantha Baranowski pass.
Corinne Wellington led Maine with 14 points.

(2) SYRACUSE 74, RUTGERS 64: C.J. Fair scored a career-high 21 points and Scoop Jardine added 17, including a dagger 3-pointer with 1:11 to play, as the Orange (27-1, 14-1 Big East) beat the Scarlet Knights (12-15, 4-10) at Piscataway, N.J.
(5) DUKE 75, BOSTON COLLEGE 50: Seth Curry scored 18 points as the Blue Devils (23-4, 10-2 ACC) cruised to a win over the Eagles (8-19, 3-10) at Boston.
(7) MICHIGAN ST. 76, PURDUE 62: Draymond Green had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Austin Thornton scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Spartans (22-5, 11-3 Big Ten) past the Boilermakers (17-10, 7-7) at West Lafayette, Ind.
(15) WISCONSIN 65, PENN ST. 55: Josh Gasser scored 15 points and the Badgers (20-7, 9-5 Big Ten) held off the visiting Nittany Lions (12-16, 4-11) to win for the eighth time in 10 games.
IOWA 78, (18) INDIANA 66: Matt Gaten scored a career-high 30 points and the Hawkeyes (14-13, 6-8 Big Ten) ended a three-game winning streak by the visiting Hoosiers (20-7, 8-7).
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
MAINE 2, NEW HAMPSHIRE 1: Melissa Gagnon provided the winner with her second goal of the season as the University of Maine (17-10-6, 11-8-2 Hockey East) topped New Hampshire (10-21-3, 4-15-2) at Alfond Arena in Orono.
