Geologist Sid Quarrier will give an illustrated talk on “Landscapes, Geology and Human Affairs on the St. George River” this week at Camden Public Library. Stories of Adventure, 6 p.m., Pinkham Notch, N.H.
The Appalachian Mountain Club is again offering its international dinner and adventure series, featuring cuisine from another culture and a guest speaker who tells an adventure from that region of the world. The family-style dinner features four courses. Guests may BYOB. This Wednesday’s program features the cuisine of Ecuador with a talk about Ecuador. All programs are free and open to the public. Farm Days, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Bird Walks, 8 a.m. in Freeport
Geared toward birders of all skill levels, free guided walks are offered every Saturday morning at Freeport Wild Bird Supply. Meet at the store at 541 Route 1. Usually, walks involve a short car-pool trip to a local site of seasonal interest. Bring your binoculars, or borrow a pair, and come out to see some birds and learn about their habits. Winter Fun Days, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Activities for all ages will be on tap at the next Winter Family Fun Day sponsored by a Maine state park. This week, Mount Blue State Park in Weld will offer cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, hay rides and more. Cost is $1.50 for ages 12 to 64. Call 585-2261.
Quarry Carnival, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Waterville
The Quarry Road Recreation Area is hosting another winter carnival with loads of unique winter events. An “amazing tree maze,” a fat tire bike race, and a laser biathlon demonstration are some of the offerings. A free buffet will be served compliments of area restaurants.
