At 7 tonight, St. Lawrence Arts Center will present a program of recent short films by filmmaker Walter Ungerer. He was a fixture in the Village art community and underground film scene in New York City in the 1950s and ’60s. His work spans 50 years of filmmaking, from cinema verite documentaries to recent computer-generated works.

Ungerer, who lives in Maine now, left New York in 1969 for a job teaching filmmaking at Goddard College in Vermont. A Q&A with Ungerer will follow the showing. Admission is $5.

From 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 15, Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers, 149 Main St., Freeport, will host a reading, reception and book signing with Carl Little, author of “Eric Hopkins: Above and Beyond,” and artist Eric Hopkins. An exhibition featuring new work by Hopkins also is on view. Reservations are recommended for the talk. Call 865-4519 or visit thosmoser.com.
