The Westbrook American reported on April 3, 1957, that Westbrook High School planned its biggest social event of the year, Stardust Ball. Ann Wormell and Patricia Burton handled reservations at the school.

A theater production at Saccarappa School about the life of Johnny Appleseed was attended by 200. Fifth grade teacher Grace Marston wrote the play and student Kerry Herbert played Appleseed.
