Meatballs for all
On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Knights of Columbus will hold an Italian dinner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Route 302 in Windham from 5-6 p.m. The menu includes antipasto, homemade meatballs and marinara sauce, pasta, garlic rolls, beverages and a dessert buffet. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Meals will be available to go. Tickets are availale at the door until sold out. Proceeds of this supper will be used to support Wreaths Across America.
‘Nutcracker’ features local dancers
Windham residents Kaylee Calvert, Emma Davis, Glenn Davis (Cavalier), Amelia Greslick, Juliette Lauzier (Frau Stahlbaum), Hanna Miele, Isabelle Stoll, Naia Varney and Reece Wilson are among the dancers performing in Maine State Ballet’s 40th anniversary production of “The Nutcracker,” at Portland’s Merrill Auditorium Friday, Nov. 25, through Sunday, Dec. 4. Tickets are on sale through Porttix at 842-0800, or tickets.porttix.com, or at the Merrill Auditorium box office, noon-6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Tickets are priced at $21-66, and discounts are available for groups, seniors and children.
Bean supper
The American Legion Field-Allen Post 148 will hold a baked bean supper at the Windham Veterans Center on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 5-6:30 p.m. The menu includes a variety of beans, hot dogs, salads and casseroles and homemade pie and desserts. The cost is $8 for adults and free for those under age 12. Proceeds to be used for Post programs in the community.
Community Thanksgiving dinner
Food and Fellowship Inc. is offering its annual Monday Meal Thanksgiving Dinner free to the community at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21, at the North Windham Union Church. Questions? Call 415-9742 or 892-9212. There is no charge and everyone is welcome.

Mowgli and Baloo
On Wednesday, Nov. 23, “The Jungle Book” will be shown, free of charge, at Windham Public Library from 1-2:25 p.m. This film features Mowgli, a human boy adopted by a pack of wolves and living in the deepest jungle. The appearance of a villainous tiger forces Mowgli’s panther guardian to shepherd the child to safety in the “man village.” Along the way, the boy meets an affable, lazy bear named Baloo. The movie stars the voices of Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken. Snacks will be provided. No RSVP needed. For more details, call Sally at 892-1908.
Cancer support group
Windham Cancer Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, at the Windham Public Library meeting room. This is an informal group of and for folks whose lives have been touched by cancer.
Stagecoach history
On Monday, Nov. 28, Terry Christy, a former Windham High School history teacher, will present a program about stagecoaches at 7 p.m. at the Windham Historical Society, 234 Windham Center Road. Come learn about a former mode of transportation and the routes used. Refreshments will be available. A $5 donation is suggested.
Senior bus Monday
The Wednesday morning senior “shopping” bus for senior citizens will switch days during Thanksgiving week and will be available on Monday morning, Nov. 21, instead of Wednesday, Nov. 23.
Meals on Wheels needs help
Volunteers are needed at Unity Gardens senior housing, Route 115, on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays to assemble Meals on Wheels meals for delivery. This is a 1- to 1½-hour task. Delivery drivers are also needed. Mileage is paid. If interested or for more information, call Virginia or Andi at 892.3891.
Toy Workshop/Christmas Dinner signup
The Windham Food Pantry will take signups for the Windham Toy Workshop and Christmas Dinner through Dec. 1. This is for Windham residents only. Signups cannot be done by phone, and proof of residency is required. The food pantry is the building next door to the Public Safety building and across the street from the Friends Meeting House on Route 202. To sign up, visit the Windham Food Pantry Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to fill out an application.

Catered meal for seniors
A catered pot roast dinner will be served at Unity Gardens on Route 115 on Thursday, Dec. 8, at noon. If you or someone you know is 60 or over, this delicious meal is available for $5. Artisan Fair & Silent Auction
On Thursday, Dec. 8, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., the 2016 Bid of Christmas Artisan Fair & Silent Auction will be held at Windham Weaponry, 999 Roosevelt Trail. The Sebago Lakes Chamber of Commerce is looking for artisans/retailers to sell items/gifts. Reserved spaces by Dec. 8. The chamber is also seeking donations for the event.
