Admission is free, but participants are asked to bring along a nonperishable food item for the Windham Food Pantry. For more information, call Parks and Recreation, 892-1905.
Be a “Trunk or Treat” host
The Windham Parks and Recreation Department is looking for people to host a trunk in their annual “Trunk or Treat” Oct. 27 during the Halloween Adventure at the middle school.
This a fun way to help local children have a happier Halloween. You can decorate your car in a spooky theme and dress in costume while handing out candy to trick-or-treaters attending the event. Prizes will be given for the most creative trunk. Preregistration is required, so if you’d like to participate, call 892-1905.

Field-Allen Post 148 will host Claire Starnes, author of “Women Vietnam
Veterans: Our Untold Stories,” from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Windham Veteran’s Center, 35 Veteran’s Memorial Drive.
Starnes’ book chronicles the participation of American military women, many of them nurses, who served in Vietnam during the war. Come hear some of the stories and pick up a copy of the book. It would be a great Christmas gift for any Vietnam veterans you may know. The event is open to the public.
