Cape schools to show ‘Screenagers’

The parent associations at the middle and high schools in Cape Elizabeth are offering a free screening of the award-winning documentary, “Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the high school. In the movie, filmmaker and physician Delaney Ruston explores the challenges teenagers and their parents face with teens spending an average of 6.5 hours of screen time per day.

Transfer station waives fees

Fees at the transfer station in Cape Elizabeth will be waived for residents transporting their own material or items for disposal from Oct. 15-31. In addition, the transfer station will also be open on Sundays from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., between Oct. 23 and Nov. 15, for the disposal of leaves, yard waste, wood waste, bulky waste and brush only. Fall charity fest Coming Oct. 15

Nordx Laboratories is sponsoring a Fall Charity Festival on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., at its offices in Route 1 in Scarborough. The family-friendly event will include raffles and a silent auction, face and pumpkin painting, bake and craft sales, police and fire rescue vehicles, a kids and adult costume parade and more. The rain date is Oct. 16.

Harvest Celebration set in Scarborough

On Saturday, Oct. 15, 6:30-10 p.m., the Scarborough Education Foundation will hold its fifth annual Harvest Celebration at Bayley’s Camping Resort off Pine Point Road.
