Something new
The first is the opening of the Boat Launch Café at the corner of routes 35 and 114 in Sebago Lake Village. The business is owned by Dan Roberts. Roberts was the owner of the Maine Street Grill which closed recently. That brings me to my second item. The Maine Street Grill building is being renovated and re-opened by the owners of O’Dans in Sebago.

Author event
The Standish Fish & Game Club will host Roger Guay at 6:30 p.m. Wed., Oct. 5, to read excerpts from and sign copies of his new book, “A Good Man with a Dog: A Game Warden’s 25 Years in the Maine Woods.” The talk will be held at the Steep Falls Fire Barn on Boundary Road in Standish.
One autographed book will be given away, and light refreshments will be served. The event is free, but registration is necessary. RSVP by Oct. 1 to Beth Brown at 523-0821 or email elizabeth.j.brown8@gmail.com.
“A Good Man with a Dog” is the story of a Game Warden’s journey from the woods of Maine to the swamps of New Orleans. When Guay’s father died in a fishing accident, a kind game warden helped him through the loss. Inspired by this experience, as well as his love of the outdoors, Guay became a game warden and certified K9 handler, beginning a successful career that would span 25 years and see him establish canine units as a staple of the game warden service.
Guay served with the Maine Warden Service from 1986 until his retirement in 2010.
