The Vallee Drug Store, left, operated out of this location at Main and Bridge streets for many years. The business was originally the C.B. Woodman Drug Store, which was started by Charles B. Woodman in 1869 in a building across from this location on Main Street. The business moved to this location, and was eventually sold to longtime employee Charles Vallee, the father of Rudy Vallee. Rudy Vallee achieved fame and fortune in the ’20s in radio, recordings, theater and film as a singer and actor. The business, which retained the Vallee name long after Charles Vallee retired, operated into the 1970s. Acquatic Concepts currently occupies this location.
