It was a far cry from Wal-Mart, but you could buy everything in Henry Bickford’s store, including shovels, shoes, medicines and food. This is Mr. Bickford inside his South Windham store, which he built in 1869. The business thrived on Cross Street (now called Depot Street) until the early years of the 20th century and the building is now a residence in private ownership.
