Historians to hear dairymen
Gorham dairy farmers Bill Rust and Bob Parsons will speak when the Gorham Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, in the Gorham Savings Bank Operations Center on Gray Road (Route 202).
Rust and Parsons, who both have Holstein herds, will talk about the history and future of the milking industry besides the present state of the business.
Friendly’s meals aid Project Graduation
Darcy Bourgault of the Project Graduation Committee has announced a fundraiser for this month.
Bourgault said, “Thinking of going out to eat during school vacation week? Please consider eating at Friendly’s in Windham or South Portland from Sunday, Feb. 19, to Sunday, Feb. 26, and 20 percent of your check will be donated to Gorham Project Graduation 2012.”

Murray excels
at Norwich
Benito Murray of Gorham is on the dean’s list for the fall semester at Norwich University I Northfield, Vt.
UMO dean’s list
Several students from Gorham have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Maine.
They are Isaac Barnes, Siobhan Bolinger, Taylor Buotte, Matthew Cota, Nicole D’Andrea, Courtney Hawkes, Leaha Keene, Annie Ledoux, Logan Nee, Bailey O’Brien, Samantha Owens, Ishah Price, Elizabeth Richard, Michael SeeHusen, Kathryn Smith, Morgan Stickney, Jennifer Stoudt, Jackson Taylor, Chantal-Marie Tijssen, Casey Weed and Linda Wong.
Senior center special programs
The Lakes Region Senior Center, 40 Acorn St., in Gorham is hosting two upcoming special events this month open to the public.
The center is hosting a blood pressure clinic conducted by the Gorham Health Council at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
It will be followed by a potluck lunch at noon and those attending are welcome to take their favorite recipe to share. The lunch will precede a Valentine/Birthday party with games of 50/50 and “Name That Tune” (songs of our vintage), organizers said.
A heart health program on Thursday, Feb. 16, will be presented by Cindy Honess, a cardiac clinical nurse specialist.
Honess, who works at Maine Medical Center, will present topics on “Gender Differences in Heart Attack Symptoms.” Information will be focused on general cardiac disease risk factors, differences in heart attack symptoms between men and women, and the Million Hearts campaign.
Refreshments will be served.
The center in the former Little Falls School is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be closed on Presidents’ Day, Feb. 20.
