Patriot Players

The Gray-New Gloucester Patriot Players will examine “taking tests” in their one-act performance of “Questionable” by Alan Haehnel. The Players will prep for the regional school competition with a public performance at 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the high school. The play is about the National Institute of Testing While Involving Theater (NITWIT) which conducts a hilarious test-taking experience for the audience. The Patriot Players will also present “Questionable” at the March 11 and 12 regional competition at Leavitt High School. The cast includes Caitlin Fields, Jasmine Harper, Emily Tynes, Lydia Larson, Grace Powell, Jordan Holmes, Rachel Powell, Josh Harper, Aeleah Granger, Rayna Campbell, Sam Miklovich, Alan Bennett, Jake Malloy, Brogan Kelley, Arden Jordan, Sam Maristany, Emily Mills, and Paige Berube. Those students working production are Kyrie Ovady, Stephanie Sailor, Kayla Rogers, and Ariel Catrett. Michaela Lyons is the technical director. Eric Walker is directing the production.

Bean supper

Gray First Congregational Church will hold a Public Supper on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 5-6 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children under 12.

The menu includes baked beans, casseroles, salad, homemade biscuits and pies, all served in the downstairs Supper Room that is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 657-4279 or, on the day of the event, 657-3279.

On Saturday, March 5, the Gray Snowolves Snowmobile Club will host its 6th Annual Winterfest at St. Gregory’s Church, Crystal Lake in Gray. The event is a fundraiser to assist the club in its efforts to maintain more than 43 miles of trails in Gray for all winter sports and fund its annual scholarship to a G-NG student majoring in environmental studies.

This year’s event will feature a fishing derby, a kids’ derby sponsored by Fish Extraction Team, a radar run and a poker run. There will also be raffle items, a silent auction, kids’ games, food, a bonfire, snowmobile rides and prizes for the derby and poker run.

The fishing derby begins at legal sunrise and goes to 3 p.m.; tickets are $10. The radar runs go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per run, and participants must be 18 or older. The traditional poker run is from 9 a.m. to noon and the ante is $5 per hand.

Winter Fun ?at Libby Hill

Libby Hill Winter Fun Day is Saturday, Feb. 26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Libby Hill in Gray. Come have fun outdoors and help keep Libby Hill a great year-round destination! Events will feature “how to” clinics for skis and snowshoes, guided snowshoe hikes, cross country ski and snowshoe races for kids and adults, a sledding contest, snow sculpture contest, bonfire, cocoa, and more! Crystal Lake Derby wants to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, special guests, Gray Fire Department and EMS, and all the participants who came to support this event. Signs of spring

Gray Little League is currently holding registration for the 2011 season.

Returning players may download forms at www.graylittleleague.org and send them in with registration fees to P.O. Box 1236, Gray, ME 04039. T-Ball is $40 for the 2011 season, Minor and Major softball and baseball is $70. Junior softball is $100.

The fee for the third member and beyond of any family is waived. Financial hardship scholarships are available. Send information requests to loriholmquist@rocketmail.com.

League softball

Junior League Softball is available for girls aged 13 or 14 as of Dec. 31, 2010. This sport is highly competitive, involves travel, weekends and double headers, begins in June and may last until August. Girls and parents must have a strong commitment to play and support the team. The cost is $100, with paperwork due on March 1. A tryout may be needed. Call Sandy Carder at 657-4715 for more information.

Fiddlehead ?March events

Wednesday and Thursday, March 9 and 10, will be open house at Fiddlehead Art & Science Center in Gray for preschool, kindergarten, first grade and after school programs to begin in fall 2011.

Tickets are now on sale for the Fiddlehead children’s production of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” Four great shows will be held at the Gray/New Gloucester High School. Evening shows are Saturdays, March 19 and 26, at 7 p.m. Matinee shows are Sundays, March 20 and 27, at 2 p.m.

The center is located at 25 Shaker Road.
