Some of you know about Remnant Ministries, others may never have heard of it. Rev. Ken and Mary Stimson has had this organization for approximately 25 years.

He had been given the food from many Hannaford stores that was not saleable but still too good to dispose of. He took it to the building he built especially for pantries at his home and had pantries for the people who needed it. Then he lined up people for each day of the week so daily someone came to the store and took the food to an assigned place for a pantry. No one was asked how much they made or where they lived.

My husband and I were assigned one day each week to pick up the food for a pantry, which we held at the South Windham Community Church. We thoroughly enjoyed it for nearly 14 years; we met many wonderful people, enjoying them. We never knew what we would have to offer them.

When we started we had meat, produce and bread; as time went on there was no more meat. One family had four boys at home and appreciated the bread that helped them.

We want to thank all who came to our pantry, those who we got to know personally. Those who would come in and share their personal lives. It has been a great time for us and we will miss it.

Good Shepherd wanted the food from Hannaford and they voted to let them have it. Thank you Hannaford for so many years of sharing. You were great. However I am sad that the local people do not have the opportunity to partake any more.
