The American Lung Association of Maine is looking for volunteers to help with the Trek Across Maine cycling event.

On June 15-17, more than 2,000 cyclists are expected to ride and help raise over a million dollars. Funds raised support lung health for all people in Maine. But they will not be able to do it without the help of people like you.

“Volunteers are the backbone of this event,” said Michelle Caliandro, trek volunteer coordinator. “Volunteers can help with planning starting months before the ride, setting up various locations throughout the weekend, registering cyclists, monitoring the route, managing snack stations, cleaning up or cheering on the cyclists. There is a place for everyone’s time and talents.”

Volunteers have a variety of motivations for involvement, Caliandro said. “Some are involved because a family member or friend has asthma or lung disease. Some are involved because they are looking to make a contribution to their community.

“It is rewarding to see the event come together,” said Caliandro. “It is a great event with something for everyone.”
