Scarborough High School senior Kerry Jones has been selected as this year’s winner of the Maine Principal’s Association Principal’s Award and will be given the award at an award luncheon on April 2.
Jones was selected by Principal Andrew Dolloff among all of the school’s seniors for the award. The selection criteria are based on a student’s academic record, school citizenship, accomplishments in community service, and co-curricular activities.
Jones is a co-founder of the Environmental Club, which is the organization that started and operates the school’s recycling program among other activities. She also is a member of the Math Team, the National Honor Society, and the Academic Decathlon team, which recently won the state championship. As a member one of her duties is serving as the “math teacher,” giving fellow students a crash course in mathematics.
She also is the treasurer for the Key Club and was the co-chairman of the tsunami polar dip, a fund-raiser that raised $13,000 for UNICEF last winter.
Next fall Jones will attend Yale University. She has not yet decided what will be her major.
Jones is the daughter of Lee and KC Jones of Winnocks Neck Road.
