Ongoing events:

• Steep Falls Public Library: Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. A free story hour for toddlers and preschool children is held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story hour is free and open to the public.

• Active Senior Citizens of Standish holds meetings the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 11 a.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn. Lunch is $3 and reservations are required before 9 a.m. the Monday prior to the meeting. To reserve a spot, call Alvida at 642-4929 or June at 727-6215.

• A Caregiver’s Support Group meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Bridgton Community Center from 1:30 to 3 p.m. This discussion group is sponsored by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association. No need to pre-register, but if you have any questions, you may call Loretta Baker at 647-8095.

• American Legion Standish Memorial Post 128 meets every second and fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Beach Road Club House on Route 25 in Standish. All veterans, past and present, are welcome.

• The Windham Fire Department sponsors a child car seat inspection every third Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Windham Fire Station. FMI 892-1912.

May 12: Knights of Columbus roast beef supper at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Hall in Windham. $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Menu includes roast beef, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, homemade desserts, coffee-punch or milk. Don Levesque will provide dinner music.

May 12: Car wash to benefit Bonny Eagle HS students traveling to Guatemala from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at George E. Jack Elementary School. Price per wash is by donation.

May 14: Le Leche League Breastfeeding support group meets in Naples at 10 a.m. Call Beth Brown for directions, 693-4793.

May 18: Casco Village Chuch is hosting a Movie Night at 7 p.m. The movie is Field of Dreams. Free admission, munchies, a big movie screen and awesome sound system, as well as a lively discussion after movie.

May 19: Roast Beef Supper at Sebago Lake Congregational Church, Route 35, in Sebago Lake Village. 5 & 6 p.m. seatings. $7.50 adults/$4.50 children. All you can eat. Roast beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, Italian bread, assorted desserts. FMI 642-4911.

May 20: The Casco Public Library is holding a free Medieval Day from 1 to 5 p.m. at the library. There will be an afternoon of medieval activities including armored combat, music and dance, crafts, food, and games. Participation is welcome, but garb not required.

May 24: A Thanks for Giving: Senior Citizens’ 16th annual appreciation night and dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bonny Eagle High School. RSVP Julia Dearborn at the Superintendent’s Office by May 18 at 929-3831, 642-2480.

May 30: American Red Cross blood drive at Jordan Small Middle School on Route 85 in Raymond from 2 to 7 p.m.

June 4: Rabies Clinic 5-6:30 p.m. at the Sebago Lake Congregational Church, Route 35 in Sebago Lake Village. $8 per pet. Cash only – no checks. Bring previous rabies certificate. Dogs must be on leashes and cats in carriers. Vaccines to be given by Standish Veterinary Hospital.

June 8: Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce sponsors 7th annual Golf Open at Point Sebago Resort. Golf scramble will benefit chamber scholarship fund and Lakes Region tourism. Entry fees are $100 per player or $350 per team. Putting contest, hole-in-one contest, long drive, closest to pin, awards and luncheon. Sponsored by Norway Savings Bank.

June 23: Windham Summerfest takes place on the ground of the Windham High School. Rain date is June 24. Parade participants needed. Food and game booths available for organizations, churches or businesses. Special events include a parade at 9 a.m., frog jumping contest, live band concerts, bicycle rodeo, helicopter rides, games and activities all day, craft fair, softball game with Windham Police vs. Windham Fire, skate park competition, soccer tournament, and a large fireworks display at dusk.
