Election, town meeting April 5 and 6
Absentee ballots for the 2013 municipal elections are now available. To request an absentee ballot, come in or call the town office at 353-2561, ext. 11. Every voter who wants a ballot must request his or her own ballot. Absentee voting ends Tuesday, April 2. Polls are open on Election Day, Friday, April 5, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Durham Community School, 654 Hallowell Road. Residents will elect two selectmen, three budget committee members and one director for the Regional School Unit 5 board. All terms are for three years. Town meeting begins on April 5 at 7:45 a.m., to elect a moderator and adjourn to the polls for electing municipal officials. The meeting resumes Saturday, April 6, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Durham Community School gym. Town reports will be available April 1.

Town office notes
Regular town office hours are Monday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. It is closed for lunch Monday-Friday from noon-1 p.m.

Selectmen meet Tuesday, March 26, at 6: 30 p.m., at the Durham Town Office. The codes enforcement officer is available Wednesdays, March 20 and 27, from 5-7 p.m.
Youth Baseball registration open
to April 5
Registration for Durham Youth Baseball is now open through April 5. The program is for ages 4-13 (as of April 30) in Durham, Freeport and Pownal. Signups and payment can be made on the website at www.durhambaseball.com, or print out a form for in-person signups will be held on Wednesday, March 20 and Wednesday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Durham Community School Discovery Room.

Concert to honor
Bee Douglas
Singer-songwriter Joe Crookston will perform an intergenerational community concert at the Durham Friends Meeting House Saturday, March 22, at 7 p.m., in a tribute to Bee Douglas, who died last June at 103 years old. She was the oldest Durham Friend.

PTA seeking auction donations
The Durham PTA’s fourth annual auction is April 27. The PTA uses the money raised to provide field trips, enrichment programs and many teacher-requested educational tools for students.

Food pantry
The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach’s food pantry and clothing bank hours are: Wednesday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 a.m. LACO serves the communities of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon. The website is www.lacopantry.org.
The physical address for food and clothing is the Marion T. Morse Community Center, enter from the Berry Avenue side behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church. The clothing bank cannot accept furniture, appliances, etc., as they do not have the room to store them. For more, call Debbie at 240-1637.

Dog licenses overdue
Dog licensing is still in effect. A late fee of $25 will now be applied to the regular fee, per dog. The price for a spayde or neutered dog is $6 and for an unaltered dog is $11. Residents can license dogs by coming in to the town office during business hours or by mailing information to Town Clerk Shannon Plourde, Town of Durham, 630 Hallowell Road, Durham, Maine 04222. Include the dog’s rabies certificate, a self-addressed stamp envelope with a check, made payable to Town of Durham). In return Plourde will mail the new tag and all the paperwork. Those with questions can call Plourde at 353-2561, Ext. 11.

The First Congregational Church of Durham has services at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Services for the Shiloh Church are every Sunday at 10 a.m.
Services for Friends Meeting are every Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
