Despite fumbling the opening kick and twice falling behind by a touchdown in the first half, Bonny Eagle (6-1) was able to rally back against Cheverus (7-0) to tie the score at 14 apiece in a battle of unbeatens on Oct. 16.
Although the Scots took the lead 20-14 in the third quarter, poor special teams play by Bonny Eagle — including a disastrous muffed punt in the Scots’ own endzone in the fourth quarter that resulted in the go-ahead Cheverus touchdown — burned the visiting team all day. In the end, the Stags were simply too much for Bonny Eagle to overcome, and the Scots fell by a final score of 23-20.
