Reed Bridge-Koenigsberg, a fifth-grader at Crooked River Elementary School in Casco was one of six Maine students awarded an iPod Shuffle with a solar-powered charger by Gov. John Baldacci Monday for winning the fourth annual Energy Savings Tip contest.

Bridge-Koenigsberg’s tip – “Un-insulated attics can be energy hogs: so, ask your parents to place some insulation on your attic floor,” won the home tip category for fifth-graders.

The contest, sponsored by the Office of Energy Independence and Security and the Maine Public Utilities Commission’s Efficiency Maine program, awards fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students for the best energy saving tips for the home and school.

Take it from me: Casco student’s tip a winner
