The Westbrook Planning Board was expected to hold a public hearing on new site plan review standards for large-scale projects in the Gateway district this Tuesday at 7 p.m. in room 114 of Westbrook High School, after the American Journal’s deadline.
The new Gateway standards are in response to concerns about a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter to be constructed on the site of the former Saunders Brothers mill.
The new standards would restrict buildings in the district to a 160,000-square-foot limit and also includes provisions for increased buffers and restrictions on hours of operation.
The public is invited to comment on the proposed standards. For more information, call City Planner Brooks More at 854-9105.
