‘Just Once’ guitar course set

Bonny Eagle Adult Education at Bonny Eagle Middle School has arranged for Don Pride to teach the popular “Just Once Guitar for Busy Adults,” Monday, Oct. 17, from 6:30-9 p.m.

This one time class will teach students to play chords on the guitar so they can start playing favorite songs right away. The easy-to-understand instruction book and DVD used in class enable students to keep practicing at home. In class, Pride also discusses some of the common mistakes people make and the hurdles that prevent them from learning the guitar.

Pre-registration is required. Students should bring their acoustic guitar. There is a $29 materials fee for a workbook and DVD to continue practicing at home.

Help save the schools

The Community Heritage Alliance of Rural Maine will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, in The Old White Church, 15 Salmon Falls Road., Buxton.

The board members of the alliance and Maine School Administrative District 6 have been discussing ways to save Buxton’s historic S.D. Hanson School and Hollis High School from demolition, while saving the school district money and providing needed community space.

The group needs members of the community to step forward and show their support, said Susan Orfant Gillette, president of the alliance, in a statement.

Gardeners to hear Schneller

Author Lee Schneller will speak when the Buxton Garden Club meets at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Groveville Firebarn, 13 Turkey Lane. Schneller will present a program “The Everblooming Garden,” which is the title of a book she has written. The public is welcome to attend.
