Holiday pop-up store for Black Dinah
Black Dinah Chocolatiers will host another pop-up store at its future Westbrook location this weekend, offering truffles and other Easter-themed treats. The kiosk will be open on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Edwards Block building at 869 Main St.
Black Dinah, originally based in Isle au Haut, is an award-winning chocolatier known for unique truffles. Owners Steve and Kate Shaffer announced the new Westbrook location early this year, intending to use the space for production and distribution of their chocolate.
This is the second such pop-up store to be offered since Black Dinah announced the move. Renovations to the space, which used to house furniture company Red Tread, are under way.
Grange taking items for children’s hospital
Highland Lake Grange No. 87, 9 Hardy Road, Westbrook is gathering new items for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center, Portland. Deadline to take donations to the Grange hall is Thursday, April 2.
Trinity Holy week services
Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., Westbrook, invites all to its Holy week worship services.
A service of Holy Communion is set for 7:30 on Maundy Thursday, April 2; and on Good Friday, April 3, at 7:30 a service of Tenebrae will feature moments of spoken and silent reflection on Jesus’ death, while the sanctuary goes from light to darkness.
The resurrection will be celebrated on Sunday, April 3, with an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at Smiling Hill Farm on County Road. Coffee and muffins will be available.
A full Easter breakfast will be served by the youth in the fellowship hall of the church 9-9:45 a.m. Donations for the breakfast will go to Camp Sunshine.
Festival Easter worship begins at 10:30 a.m. with special music and singing of the Hallelujah chorus. All are welcome.
Sparks to entertain seniors
David Sparks of Sparks Ark in Windham will present the program when Westbrook Senior Citizens meet at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 6, in Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.
The seniors will travel to Lantana’s in Randolph, Mass., on Tuesday, May 19. to see a comedy, “The Late Night Catechism.” For more information, call 883-54046 or 854-2705.
UMF dean’s list
Five Westbrook students were named to the dean’s list at the University of Maine at Farmington for the fall semester.
They are Katie Clark, Alison Hutchins, Julianne McLaughlin, Nicholas Minor, and Anna Traugh.
