Gray native starring on Alfred University swim team

Brian Agro of Gray, a 2005 Cheverus High School graduate, is an integral member of the Alfred University (N.Y.) men’s swim team.

The team has won 16 dual meets in a row. In his last two meets against Pitt-Bradford University and Fredonia University, Agro, a junior, won both the 1,000-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.

Standish native helps St. Joe’s to ECAC final

On Nov. 11, Alyssa Dunn of Standish, a member of the St. Joseph’s College field hockey team took the field in the ECAC Division III title game.

The Monks dropped the game to Bridgewater State in the final minutes, giving up the game’s lone goal with under three minutes left.

Dunn, a freshman, had a part on a solid scoring chance in the first half when she hit a shot on a penalty stroke that Bridgewater goaltender Nicole Downs just blocked with her left pad.

The Monks end the 2007 campaign with a 14-7 record, the best finish in the program’s history.
