The Raymond man who fled from police in a canoe on Oct. 23 turned himself in at York District Court last month.
On Nov. 15 Nicholas Mains, 29, turned himself in after seeing his photo splashed across the news.
“A lot of people do it when they realize they’re wanted,” said Deputy Joe Schnupp of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Mains was originally wanted for failure to appear in court, but fled a roadblock in Casco that was targeting drivers operating after suspension. Mains leaped from the vehicle he was a passenger in and ran into the woods. He found a police officer waiting for him at his home and paddled across Panther Pond and had not been seen since.
