Last chance on survey

This is the last chance to send in the survey on the future of the town-owned properties. Please be sure to take the time to read the survey, fill it out and submit it to: The Gray Community and Economic Development Committee, The Gray Town Office, 5 Shaker Road, Gray, ME 04039.

The surveys are available at the Gray Town Office, the Gray

Transfer Station, the Gray Public Library or online at www.graymaine.org/public_documents/index. Log on and go to Hot Topics in Gray and check CEDC. You will find the survey that you can fill in and mail. All surveys must be in by March 15.

Where’s Wyatt?

The folks at Libby Hill are looking for one of the youngest skiing participants, Wyatt Kenney, from the Winter Fun Day on March 1. Carl Holmquist would like to present this brave 5-year-old ski racer with “Best Effort of the Day” award for his great ski racing skills.

Unfortunately, they don’t know how to contact him to present the award. Go to the Web site www.Libbyhill.org to see a photo of Wyatt and his dad racing, if you know how to contact him please call Carl Holmquist at 657-2173.

More Libby Hill events

The Orienteering course is now open thanks to the great efforts of Tracy Ross who has developed eight great courses for enthusiasts to try. Maps and how to information is available at www.libbyhill.org.

One more snowshoe trek is scheduled for, March 16 from 1-3:30 p.m. Space is limited and you must reserve your slot. E-mail

Get your kicks

A registration and general information form went for indoor soccer went out in the children’s backpacks at Dunn School. This program will be limited to the first 24 paid registration forms received. Soccer will be held at Newbegin Gym starting Saturday, March 22 for five weeks. Four teams will be scheduled games at 12:30 or 1:15 p.m. For more information, call Dean Bennett at 657-2323.

March is Women’s History Month the Gray Public Library has many titles to chose from that recognize women who are in the Women’s Hall of Fame. Featured women include Jane Addams, an American social worker, Madeleine Albright, the first female Secretary of State, Barbara Jordan, the first black African American elected to the Texas Senate since Reconstruction and Margaret Chase Smith, the first woman to win elections to both houses of the U.S. Congress from Maine. The Young Adult Book Club’s March meeting will be Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m. and the theme is animals. Meanwhile tax assistance from AARP Tax Help is available but appointments are necessary and limited spots are available. Call 657-4110 to schedule an appointment.

Support your library by attending the April 1, 6 p.m. informal public hearing at Stimson Hall on the proposed library budget. Gray Library hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Candidates needed

Three Gray Town Council seats, two SAD 15 School Board Seats and one five-year term for Gray Water District position are open and waiting for people to fill them.

The nomination papers are available at the Gray Town Office and when returned must contain the full name and address of the candidate, must specify the office for which the candidate is to be nominated and the term for which the candidate seeks nomination.

Those wishing to run for town council must gather at least 25, but no more than 50 signatures of registered Gray voters and file the nomination papers with the town clerk no later than 7 p.m. April 24. Voting will take place June 10.
