FREEPORT – In a special election held Wednesday in Freeport, Sarah Tracy, an attorney with the Public Utilities Commission, won the town’s District 2 seat over her opponent, retired Army nurse Joyce Clarkson-Veilleux.

Tracy received 304 votes to Clarkson-Veilleux’s 133 votes, according to Freeport Town Clerk Tracey Stevens.

Tracy will fill the seat vacated by Katherine Arno, who left in January to take a position with the Center for Public broadcasting in Washington, D.C.

Tracy’s term will expire in November 2014.
