The Windham Rotary Club donated a pediatric Advanced Life Support (ALS) trauma kit to the Sebago Rescue in a brief ceremony at the weekly club meeting in Windham last Thursday.

The $1,650 grant for the kit was made by the local Rotary club with matching funds from Rotary District 7780, in response to a grant request from Sebago EMT Tim Smith. Smith noted in his application that the pediatric trauma kit was needed to fill an equipment void on Sebago Rescue and would enhance the emergency care potential for children.

The Rotary Club is a 100-year-old service organization that is active, among other things, in activities to improve the quality of life in the community. Clubs place particular emphasis on helping children and others most in need of assistance. Since 1910, the Rotary’s motto has been “Service Above Self,” and this grant typifies that motto.

Windham Rotary Club President Toby Pennels made the presentation. Accepting the kit on behalf of Sebago Rescue was Deputy Rescue Chief Mike Foye and EMT Tim Smith.

“We really appreciate this grant,” Foye said. “This pediatric trauma kit is a valuable addition to Sebago Rescue’s emergency equipment and will enhance our capabilities to provide emergency care to children in the Lakes Region.”
