Unofficial results from Tuesday’s election for Maine House of Representatives candidates in the Lakes Region are as follows:
Windham: Corey, Bryant win
In District 24, which covers eastern and northern areas of Windham, Democrat Mark Bryant returns to Augusta with a win over Republican Dennis Welch, 2,439-1,587. Bryant served in the Legislature from 2004-2012 when he was term-limited. Welch is a Windham town councilor.
In a race featuring newcomers to statewide office, Republican Patrick Corey defeated Democrat Jennie Butler for the District 25 seat, 2,203-1,588. Corey, who led an effort to defeat a proposed sewer project in 2012, replaces Democrat Jane Pringle, who served for one term.
District 23: Shaw wins
In a close race for the district covering most of Standish, incumbent Democrat Michael Shaw defeated Republican Lester Ordway and Green party candidate Michael Wakefield for his fourth term in Augusta. Shaw earned 1,897 votes to Ordway’s 1,706 votes. Wakefield received 317 votes.
District 65: Espling wins
In the district covering New Gloucester and part of Poland, incumbent Republican Ellie Espling of New Gloucester defeated Democrat Rosa Phillips Van Wie, alos of New Gloucester, by a large margin. In New Gloucester, Espling won 1,671-1,099. In Poland, Espling won 794-602.
District 66: McClellan wins
In the district covering parts of Raymond, Casco and Poland, incumbent Republican Michael McClellan easily earned victory in a three-way race with Democrat Mary-Vienessa Fernandes, of Casco, and Lisa Willey, also of Casco. In Raymond, McClellan received 1,059 votes to Fernandes’s 479 and Willey’s 155. In Casco, he won 568 to Fernandes’ 439 and Willey’s 327. In Poland McClellan won 618 votes to Fernandes’ 354 and Willey’s 163.
District 67: Austin wins
In a battle of former long-serving state officeholders, Republican Susan Austin of Gray grabbed victory Tuesday in the district covering parts of Gray, Raymond and Poland.
In Gray, Austin won 2,358-973. In Raymond, Lewis won 292-268. And in Casco, Austin won 153-139.
District 68: Powers wins
Incumbent Democrat Christine Powers, of Naples, posted a narrow victory against Republican John Nostin, also of Naples, in the district covering parts of Naples, Sebago and Baldwin. The combined unofficial vote tally was 1,725-1,658.
In Naples, Powers won 1,008-796. Nostin took Sebago by a vote of 433-431. He also won Baldwin, 429-286.
District 69: Ginzler wins
Incumbent Democrat Lisa Villa, of Harrison, was defeated by Republican Phyllis Ginzler, of Bridgton, for the seat representing Harrison, Bridgton and Denmark.
In Bridgton, Ginzler won 1,340-950. In Denmark, she won 346-223. Villa took Harrison 669-562.
