Cleaning house? The Windham Public Library has bins for collecting empty laser and ink jet cartridges, cell phones and pagers to be recycled. Also, the Windham Lions Club provides a drop off box in the adult section of the library for old eyeglasses which are also recycled.

The library opens at 9:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and is open until 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, until 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and until 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 892-1908 or on the web, www.windham.lib.me.us.

Tuesday, Dec. 11: Tea for You, 1:30 p.m. Stop in at the Windham Public Library and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea and holiday goodies.

Thursday, Dec. 27: Story Teller Michael Parent will present story telling for elementary school age children and their parents. He is a Franco-American Mainer who has performed as a storyteller-singer in both English and French, since 1977. This performance is provide by the Children’s Museum of Maine and funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, a state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Tuesday, Jan. 30: Book Club meets from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Read one or both of these books: Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. New members always welcome.

Tuesday, Feb. 26: Book Club meets from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Book to be discussed: The Republic of Pirates: Being the True and Surprising Story of the Caribbean Pirates and the Man Who Brought Them Down by Colin Woodward, a Maine author. New members always welcome.
