Editor,
As this legislative session gets underway, I wanted to let area residents know that I have undertaken a new challenge in serving you at the State House. Since five new members were elected in November, Speaker of the House Glenn Cummings asked me to spend the 2008 session as a member of the Legal and Veterans Affairs Committee. I will also continue to serve on the Judiciary and Ethics Committees.
Though I enjoyed my previous work on the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, a move to the Legal and Veterans Affairs Committee provides me with the opportunity to explore issues in greater depth that many people in Windham and Gray have contacted me about. I am particularly interested in the work this committee will undertake this session on ethics reform and examining the efficiency of voting operations in our state.
This new assignment will also give me the opportunity to learn more about services for veterans in our state, as well as the regulation of private clubs for fraternal and charitable organizations.
Issues relating to our lakes are still a major priority for me, and I will continue to monitor legislation and initiatives that will impact how we live and take care of our inland waters. In particular, I remain committed to ensuring that we are kept in the loop on efforts to reduce the infestation of invasive plants like milfoil, or new threats such as rock snot.
As always, if I can provide any information on pending legislation, or be of assistance on state matters, please don’t hesitate to call me at home at 892-6591, or e-mail me at RepMarkBryant@yahoo.com.
Sincerely,
Rep. Mark Bryant
