Last Saturday morning, bagpiper Robert Gillis, of Old Orchard Beach, ushered this year’s St. Joseph’s College graduates to their seats in the Alfond Center for the college’s 94th commencement ceremony. It was the first time in the Standish school’s history that a bagpiper was used to usher graduates to their seats prior to the ceremony. Gillis was playing Minstrel Boy, an Irish tune in honor of the Irish heritage of the Sisters of Mercy. A total of 498 students graduated. Courtesy photo
