The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad & Museum at 58 Fore St. (in the Portland Company complex) invites the public to learn more about its volunteer programs during open houses Saturday, July 26, and Saturday, Aug. 16.

The open houses will run 10 a.m.-noon and introduce opportunites to work on:

• Train crew

• Track and locomotive maintenance

• Restoration & painting

• Cleaning

• Museum shop attendant

• Museum guides & train hosts

• Office work/filing

• Newsletter publication

Department heads, who are all volunteers, will be available at both sessions to explain what they do and answer your questions. Bring your work clothes and gloves and spend the afternoon shadowing train and track crews to learn the ins and outs of the railroad.
