Sarah Tracy candidacy supported

It is with my deepest and most sincere support for Sarah Tracy in her quest to obtain one of our Freeport Town Council Seats that I submit this letter.

Sarah and I have had the opportunity to be side by side in support of each other as moms, friends, in business and in fundraising for many great local causes. She is an amazing inspiration to me in all of these arenas. Sarah is never negative; rather she is very pragmatic, logical, smart, open and determined. This, in addition to Sarah’s extensive legal background, life experiences, knowledge of Freeport, and the issues that matter most to us, are very real assets that she will bring to this position.

If you do not know Sarah, I sure hope you will have the opportunity to some day as she is one of Freeport’s finest and her willingness to give back to our community in this way is our win for sure. Thank you for your consideration.

Library card question

I’m a new resident of Durham, having escaped from Yarmouth and enjoying the good life here. However, I have had a few minor letdowns since moving here. I can live without the dump, I am happy we now have an animal control officer.

But I do miss having a town library. And was saddened and offended when I went to the Freeport Public Library and was told that I could receive a library card, for $50 for a family. I explained I am a single person and did not need a family card, and queried as to whether they had a simple library card such as Yarmouth, or Auburn had for $4. No, I was told by a library staff person. They felt it was wrong but there was nothing to be done about this. So I ask if anyone out there can honestly and sensibly explain why this is? I realize that this may be trivial to some, but it just seems that if I pay taxes for everyone’s child to attend a school, then I should be able to receive a library card from a public library for a reasonable price.?? ?
