International Internship Programs (IIP), an international exchange organization based in Tokyo, is working with Jordan Small Middle School to bring Korean and Japanese teaching assistants to Raymond starting in April.

The teaching assistant brings Asia into the classroom, enabling American students to learn first-hand about Japanese or Korean language, customs, culture and traditions and gain invaluable international and cross-cultural experience.

The program provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about the customs, culture and language of Asia, and gain valuable international and cross-cultural experience. The interns contribute their time, energy and expertise in return for the opportunity to immerse themselves in an American school and its daily activities.

Before a teacher can commit to a community, he or she needs to secure a place to live. A home-stay experience is arranged with one or more members of the community. This creates a unique opportunity for the host to learn about Asia and exchange cultural ideas within the household.

More than one family may host during the internship. The assistant contributes $200 per month to the host to defray expenses. Interested hosts should call the principal of Jordan Small Middle School, Randy Crockett, at 655-4743.
