Windham VFW Post 10643 will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony and Open House at the Veterans Center on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. The public is invited and refreshments will be served following the event.
This year’s guest speaker is Charlie Cragin. Boy Scout Troop 805 will assist, and the Windham Chamber Singers will perform patriotic songs.
Winners of this year’s VFW essay contest will also be introduced. Winners of the Patriots Pen competition, “What I would tell America’s Founding Fathers,” are Taylor Rickett, first place, and Austin McGowan, second place. Both are from Raymond and in the eighth grade. In grades 4 and 5, the theme was “What freedom means to me,” and winners are Hayley Theberge of Windham, grade 4 and Aiden Day of Windham, grade 5. Both are students at Manchester School.
The Windham Veterans Center is on Memorial Drive, which is off Route 302 next to Friendly’s. Follow it all the way to the end. You’ll see signs.
