The Robbie Foundation wants to send a big shout-out to all the businesses, volunteers and community leaders who helped make our first annual Robbie 5K a huge success.

The event, which was held Sept. 14 at Portland’s Back Cove, drew more than 150 runners and walkers. The money from the event will go to improve the quality of life for special-needs children and young adults in Maine,

Over the past several years, the Robbie Foundation has raised more than $75,000 dollars to help families with children with developmental disabilities purchase adaptive technology and equipment, therapy treatments and other services that are not covered by insurance.

The Robbie Foundation would like to thank the following businesses for their support for the 5K: Walgreens, Black Bear Medical, Classic Eyewear, Martin’s Point Health Care and Delta Dental.

We also want to thank other businesses for their generous donations, including Hannaford Supermarkets, Michaud Distributors, Poland Spring, Walgreens, and Dunkin Donuts in Westbrook.

We also want to thank folks in the community who donated their time to make the event special and successful: Party Palooga, Maine Music and Health, and photography by Vickie Gelinas.
