GORHAM – Gorham police arrested a Cumberland County Sheriff’s sergeant on a charge of operating under the influence.

Jennifer Slocum, 42, was arrested at 2:11 a.m. on Sept. 22 on South Street. Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce confirmed Wednesday that Slocum is an employee in the department. Joyce said Slocum is a sergeant in corrections and has worked for the department 19 years.

“I’m disappointed,” Joyce said. “She’s a great employee here but that doesn’t excuse her action.”

He said Slocum is not required to drive as part of her job. Joyce will open an internal affairs investigation after the outcome of the OUI complaint.

A court date for Slocum has been set for Wednesday, Nov. 14, according to Gorham police.
