Nov. 9-11: Windham High School’s fall musical production, “Guys and Dolls” takes the stage at Windham Performing Arts Center at Windham High School on Nov. 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $7 for children and seniors, $11 for adults. Reserve tickets at 893-1742. Box office opens 45 minutes before curtain. Directed by Rob Juergens; music direction by Richard Nickerson; choreography by Venesa Beyland. Don’t miss out on this 1950s favorite about a floating crap game, romance, lots of singing, dancing and humor.

Saturday, Nov. 10: Standish Congregational Church, Oak Hill Road, is hosting a Village Square Fair, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring apple fritters, baked goods, cookie walk, jams and preserves, crafts, silent auction, bargain basement. A luncheon takes place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with homemade chowders, stews and chili.

Wednesday, Nov. 14: Don Perkins, a former carpenter and woodworker with a longtime interest in timber framing, will be speaking at the Raymond Village Library at 6 p.m. about his love of barns and his new book, “The Barns of Maine: Our History, Our Stories.” Perkins will discuss the three generations and types of barns that have appeared on Maine’s landscape and which are featured in his book. Nov. 14: The Windham Bike/Ped/trails Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Windham Town Office conference room 1. All are invited to attend and engage in a discussion of developing plans for improved safety for bike and pedestrian users within the school campus and on area roadways. Thursday, Nov. 15: Larry S. Glatz, Maine history expert, will be the speaker at 7 p.m. on “Maine in the War of 1812” at a meeting of the New Gloucester Historical Society at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse, 389 Intervale Road (Route 231), New Gloucester. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Nov. 15-18: The Lake Region High School Drama Club and Director Eugene Long present “Arsenic and Old Lace” by Joseph Kesselring, opening Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at the LRHS Auditorium, with subsequent performances on Nov. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. and matinees on Nov. 17 and 18 at 2 p.m. It’s high farce and high hilarity when the murderous spinster Brewster sisters, their homemade elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine, and “just a pinch” of cyanide, a brother who believes he is Theodore Roosevelt, and other family members, neighbors, and local law enforcement all collide on stage. Advance tickets are $8 adults and $6 students ($2 less than at the door) and are available at Bridgton Books, Hawthorne’s Attic, Lake Region House of Pizza, and Lake Region High School.

Friday, Nov. 16: Sheriff Kevin Joyce, The Cumberland County TRIAD and Camp Sunshine would like to extend an invitation to all seniors to a Thanksgiving luncheon that will be held on Nov. 16 from 11:30-1:30 at Camp Sunshine in Casco. Nov. 17: The North Gorham Public Library will hold its annual fall book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the community room of the adjacent fire station. A wide section of nearly new fiction and non-fiction books, as well as back issues of the National Geographic, will be for sale by donation. The North Gorham UCC Guild will have baked goods for sale. Nov. 30-Dec. 16: Schoolhouse Arts Center will present Miracle on 34th Street on Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 2, 9, and 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. You won’t believe your eyes when you see all the beautiful new and gently used clothing, mostly name-brands, most $1 or less. Open Saturdays from noon-4 p.m. or by appointment.
