March 23: “Music with a Mission,” a community concert series hosted by the North Windham Union Church, presents “an Evening of Bluegrass Music,” featuring Richard Bicknell and Northern Appalachia with special guest Al Hawkes, a bluegrass music pioneer from Westbrook. The concert takes place at 7 p.m. at the church located on Route 302 in North Windham. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 students/seniors. Thursday, March 28: Windham High School’s Project Graduation 2013 is holding its third annual Dancing with the Staff event this March. Ten couples, all of which work in Windham-Raymond schools, take to the stage to entertain what is always a packed house. Each audience member gets a chance to vote for their favorite couples and on the final night of competition a dancing king and queen are awarded the trophy of fame. The first night of competition was held March 14. The final night is March 28 at 7 p.m. at the Windham High School auditorium.
Friday, March 29: Saint Joseph’s College will offer a lifeguard training review course on Friday, March 29, and Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Harold Alfond Recreation Center on the Standish campus. Saturday, March 30: Portland School of Ballet presents “Around the World with Flat Stanley” at 11 a.m. at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center. Several students from the Lakes Region are performing.
Saturday, March 30: Southern Maine Gearbots hosts its second annual District Meet 9-11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s College’s Harold Alfond Center in Standish. Students from Windham, Saco, Portland and Limington in kindergarten through eighth-grade will present their designs created using Legos and robotics. Computer software is used to control the robotics. There will also be guest displays including a Lego Space Shuttle Enterprise and Lego Electronic Tuna.
