GORHAM – Gorham police this week continue to search for a man, armed with a knife, who robbed a victim at an ATM machine at 6:40 p.m. on May 14.
Detective Sgt. Dana Thompson said in a report that the robber demanded cash and attempted to force the victim to withdraw money at the Key Bank ATM machine at 45 Main St. The robber was unsuccessful and unable to access the victim’s account, but stole a small amount of cash from the victim.
The robber fled on foot, climbed over a fence at the rear of the lot, and ran toward either Preble Street or Elm Street, police said.
Thompson described the suspect as a white man about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, with dirty blond or brown hair. He was wearing a plain, black baseball hat, black jacket and tan or “washed” shorts.
Police said the robbery appeared to be isolated. “We would caution the public and remind them to be vigilant,” Thompson said in a report. “If you see anyone acting suspicious at or near an ATM machine, or in general, please call the police.”
Anyone with information or might have witnessed the robbery is asked to call the Gorham Police Department’s detective unit at 222-1660.
